Sleeping Ingmar Bergman Style

My beds before a I saw an Ingmar Berman film.

The necessary ingredients for the proper bed.

Ingmar Bergman's Fanny and Alexander

Seeing my first Ingmar Bergman film in college completely changed the way I slept. I immediately fell in love with the Swedish director's featherbeds and the big white down comforters he had in his films. I always have his Swedish aesthetic in mind when I am dressing my bed. Recently, I figured out the secret to a perfect bed, always buy your down comforter a size bigger than your duvet cover. I stuff my king size comforter in my queen duvet and I never have to worry about one side being lopsided. I am also a big believer in a million bed pillows. we have eight on our bed, not including decorative ones.

What a fantastic entry.
Yes, a feather bed and HUGE fluffy comforter, you're sleeping in the clouds!! We got ours from Ikea and I swear it's magic, I do. It's amazing.
Your blog is great fun, I just noticed a couple of my art quilts in your etsy favorite things!!Yipppeee, so fun to see that! I'm honored.
Have a great weekend.

I have two of those faux feather mattress toppers. LOVE them. Trying to figure out how I will get them in my car with everything else when I go visit my sister. I want to be able to sleep while I am there.

I'm a fan of the all white linens, too.
Great tip about the comforter - I buy pillows bigger than the shams so they look puffier.
Now I want a nap.

Oh I love white linens!! I bought a king duvet for my queen bed and I love the white that Martha has at macys:) My whole bed is white with lots of pillows. It just looks so clean and fresh.

that photo of the "institutional" beds really made me laugh :) We have 4 pillows for 2 people but I often wake up with my head displaced by a cat.

I can only get by with 6 pillows on our bed. If it were completely up to my DH, we would have only 2

Oh...this has me thinking of that story "The Princess And The Pea." Remember that? Nothing beats a proper bed AND one that is most comfie. I think the most comfie bed I slept in was at a Hilton Hotel in Anaheim, California. Not only was the bed fab, but you could sit from the room at night and watch the Disneyland Fireworks display - and IN bed!!!

Great post!

I am staying in my parent's bunk house for the winter and I think my mom took offense when I replaced the pink and green large floral bedspread with an off white cotton painter's cloth I found in the garage. (used) It feels right. Oh, I have 8 pillows as well. I use one scrawny one for sleeping.
Peace,
Ki
