What Are You Saving It For?

40 year old party supplies!!!

I have learned such an important lesson from all of my estate sale shopping. Use what you have and don't wait for that special occasion to use your nice things. I can't tell you how many homes I have been through where there are boxes of linen napkins, party invitations, tablecloths that have never been used. Did the owner of these items really never have an event worthy enough to trot these items out? We use our silver everyday, if the kids want tea it is delivered in our schmanciest teacup! I hope when my estate is liquidated, I will have used up every package of party invitations, balloons and streamers.

My mom was a saver...and I've vowed not to do the same. I say use what you buy with your hard-earned money and ENJOY it! :)

I've been asking that question lately and have gotten rid of boxes and boxes of stuff. Apparently, I have been pretty talented on being able to get loads of things stuffed in the closets! It feels great to purge.

I feel the same way. Although I shop and hoard things as I go along, I try very hard to use them and enjoy them... before they go out of style.
