I always have a million projects going on, and one of the most enjoyable this summer has been making charm bracelets using flea market finds. The bracelet on the top is made using all sorts of odd bits of broken jewelry, found pieces, and anything I can get a jump ring through . The colorful charm bracelet on the bottom is made from metal charms I found in a bin at the flea market. The charms were reproduced in the 1980's from the original Cracker Jack prize molds from the early 1900's.

I love them both! I love cracker jack toys. Here we had these kind of automata that I loved as a child, but my mother would never give me a quarter to put in. It was all 'trying to get the money out of your pocket' evilness. Those prizes that I adored were rubbish in her eyes. So I am now having a frustration in this area ;-). I simply love these little toys! And I think that the tin penny toys are now so valuable just because they were made cheap and almost nobody saved them. My mother should have known this!

You and I would be in DEEP trouble if we lived 2,000 miles closer to one another, PAL! I love 'tramp art' and consider the assemblage world (in whatever form it takes) a direct off-shoot of the vagabond-carved cigar box frames, and handsome make-do cabinets made so long ago.... Who wouldn't LOVE your bracelets?! Of course it takes your artist's eye to choose just the "right" pieces and mingle them in just the "right" way to make such a wonderful final piece. So, now after keeping you in suspense, I'll tell you how I REALLY feel..... LOVE THEM!!!

I took a class once taught by Terri Ventura at Tinsel Trading in NYC to make a charm bracelet...it is a lot harder than it looks! Yours is fantastic! Just love charm bracelets!
