The Caruso Caper
I was junk store shopping this morning and I came across an extensive collection of 78 records for $1.50 each. I had to pass them up because I don't believe I have any way of listening to these wonderful old recordings.
In the mid 1980s my Grandmother and Grandfather Ungaro were the victims of a terrible crime. My Grandfather was tending to his vegetable garden when my Grandmother brought him his lunch to enjoy in the garden. During their al fresco luncheon a hooligan entered their home and stole all of my Grandfather's Enrico Caruso records dating from 1902-1920. My Grandfather kept these records neatly stacked in a record cabinet and apparently this caught the eye of the looter. Do you suppose this ne'er-do-well was a fan of the Italian tenor? I can only imagine that my Grandparent's treasured Caruso records are sitting in a junk store selling for $1.50 a piece.

Well, in a way there is some appreciation to be had for a robber with good cultured taste. Now, I will be looking for these records at every flea market and antique store I visit.
I am horribly behind on blog visits and one could never get fully caught up on the lovely interesting exquisite posts you leave us. I must try very hard not to neglect my regular visits to you.
I am a huge Doc Marten fan. I'm not sure why, I think I am too old and uncool to wear them but I love them anyway. I think I am going to ask for some for Christmas this year. I might not be brave enough for gold glitter but I am so proud of LuLu for her divine fashion taste!
What? Had to imagine that would have been the objects of his thief. But people in general are strange and unpredictable creatives. A thief once methodically went through my whole apartment...carefully looking through every box and drawer and only stole my 13 year old black and white TV. Go figure.
What an interesting though tragic story!
I always love stopping by your place!
You're name sounds so familiar....and you're on ETSY....
Have you ever done a show at Halloween and Vine? Is that why I know your name....
hmmmmm
Best,
Kary
That's a terrible thing. Imagine finding the entire collection one day at a store. Wouldn't that be a happy ending?
Wow -that makes me curious to hear if there's more to the story! Feel like I haven't "talked" with you in a bit. Wanted to let you know that we nominated you for an Honest Scrap blog award; check out our post for details. Is the Amy Hanna workshop coming up? You are going, right? Lucky! xo
I hate when people take other peoples things. Especially things that arent easy to replace!
