Let The Wild Rumpus Begin!

Maurice Sendak's Where The Wild Things Are

I can't wait to see the film "Where The Wild Thing Are" this weekend. In 1988, when I was working for The Chicago Opera Theater they produced a spectacular opera based of Sendak's book. The costumes and scenery were extraordinary.
I treasure the tiny book "Pierre" which I was lucky enough to have Maurice Sendak sign for me!

How fun. I never read the book but I hear that the movie is not really a kid's movie.

I think this movie will be perfectly fun and entertaining, a visual feast... but Buddy and Loopy never took to the book, even though we had it in the house. Every time I pulled it off the shelf, they begged me not to read it! They must have been traumatized by it at some point!

They have now refused to go see the show with me. Wondering if I should hop a direct to Chicago to see it with you?

Sounds like the movie will be terrific. The book has always been one of my favorites. Wonder if 'In The Night Kitchen' could be next?

I love Pierre! I was just reading it to my children last week. Even I was bringing it out every evening, "Oh, how 'bout we read Pierre again tonight?"
