Amélie is one of my favorite films. I love the beautiful saturated colors and the wonderful story written and directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Amelie, played by Audrey Tatou, is a shy, lonely waitress in Montmartre who enjoys simple pleasures until she discovers that her goal in life is to help others. She devises ways to secretly intervene into other people's lives to bring them happiness and a break from their isolation.
The wonderful soundtrack and the breathtaking shots of Paris make me insane to go there every time I see this film. This film can only make you feel happy.

I finally took out my CD of this incredible film, and decided at 18, Alex SHOULD see it... it's almost the perfect "coming of age" movie for a young woman, isn't it? I had forgotten the stunning beauty of it all... the scenery, the people, the interiors. It's a real feast for the soul and the eyes and the heart. Glad you posted about it today especially, Linda. I never think of "Amelie" as a character. I always think she's just there, with the gnome, having some more photos taken.

I have not seen it yet. I will have to put it on my to do list. I am hoping I can get to Paris or at least some of France this summer. It all depends on if my daughter goes back to Germany. If she does I am there.....

I have not seen but little snips of it and it sounds like a lovely escape and inspiration. I will put it on my list of things I need to see. Thank you, Linda. Love the pix.

My favorite-est of all my favorites! My husband even enjoyed this movie (really not his usual cup of tea). Thank you for reminding me... time for another showing! Oops, I mean... Merci beaucoup! :)
Amen. I love it too. And I love your pastelly post--I'm in the mood for color suddenly, too!
I love it too! Funnily enough I watched it (again) a couple of days ago - the perfect 'feel good' film!
