I wonder why the swim dress fell out of favor?
I have to go bathing suit shopping and I am hoping to find something akin to a waterproof kaftan. How I yearn for the days of swim dresses, wool tights and shoes! I'm sure swimming in full dress is not a terrifically easy task, but I'm willing to give it a try.

Let's bring the swim dress back into fashion! I'd love one, especially since I'll be spending 4 days a week at the local lake this summer for swim lessons. Eek!
Do you think we could be trendsetters and bring that lovely style back?!!?!
Teresa
At least they have those cute swim shorts now!
How about swim pants?
I bought a new swimsuit for this year and it is almost identical to the first photograph, except mine is a halter instead of a turtleneck! Esther Williams is great too! There is actually quite a big selection of 'nontraditional' swimwear these days - swim skirts, swim-dresses, and tankinis - here is a cute one on AMAZON:

I'll bet you can find exactly what you want online.

Girl, I am SO with you!
I'm very thankful that my older kids don't drag me to the pool every single day like they did when they were little. Sam could take it or leave it--we go every now and then. And it's all about putting on that suit! Ugh.
If you find a swim caftan, could you let me know where to find it?
Becky
(PS. Now that I've divulged my secret, I guess there goes my mother of the year award!)
I totally agree and inmediately bookmarked the shopping site! Why on earth design swimsuits that are cut too high (at the legs) which are dreadfull at almost everybody's body? Why not make more halter line swim suits? Your bust looks better in those. I like the bathing suit with the 'shorty' (legs) attached too, I don't know how you call that, or the little skirt. I had the perfect swimming suit, but after a few years swimming it's almost a see through one, so...
One last why...Why are the lights in the shops where you can buy lingerie and bathing suits soooo blueish white that you can see every little thing you are not happy with. Even my daughter aged 15 seize xs, looks fat in that light.
Bring back the good old bathing suit and the comfortable lights (those before WW II).
Oh how I have wished these would comae back into fashion!
I am laughing so hard here....Love the kaftan idea! I haven't worn a swimsuit in years, lol...

Oh I love your blog...and music of course...I lived in England in 4th grade till 8th grade..wow what an experience for you...have you blogged on it?
Guess what!! I got the wonderful OWOH art from you...yeah..so lovely...how would I frame it? It looks wonderful in my studio...so detailed and gentle.
Thank you so very much!!
Oxox I have part of you in my studio now Linda.
Ah, yes...I read recently that the only real elegant swimsuit choice for women is a one-piece. So, there you go! I adore these photos, too!
Swim tights, huh? Interesting.
I love these photos. I have been collection postcards with old swimsuit photos. I'm redoing a room in a seaside cottage theme. I plan to copy the postcards onto photo paper and then tint them with photo tint, frame them and hang them in that room. These photos would look great!!!
Hi Linda,
Just found your blog conight. Very nice! I love Etsy, and will check out your shop.
Re: swim dresses: of course, we need them! I will never again wear a swimsuit. My current outfit is long "board shorts" and a long sleeved rash guard. I'm pretty much all the way covered!
